Inspiring, if kinda corny, story of a scrappy mill worker who becomes a union organizer in rural Alabama. Sally Field won an Oscar as Norma Rae. It does do a good job of showing rural poverty and the oppressive conditions of the mill. Beau Bridges, Ron Leibman, and Pat Hingle co-star. I think the really corny theme song won an Oscar too. Field would win another Oscar for "Places in the Heart," which is also kinda corny.
