Number 8 in the series, Black Jacket is where we first meet Dan Mangan. A toughie from the City, Dan becomes the next member of the Bob-Whites of the Glen. But only after he proves himself. At first he and Trixie are butting heads over every single thing and every time they meet. Between their attitudes towards each other we wonder how things will work out. Tempering the prevailing conflict is the fund raiser in which the group is involved. Trixie and Honey are intent on collecting books to send to their Mexican pen pals, Lupe and Dolores who live in San Isidro. Together the BWGs build concession stands, bleachers and practice their ice-skating techniques on the Wheeler’s lake, all in the beautiful snowy setting that befits a New England winter.
