One should really read H.G. Wells, after all, he really invented science fiction as we know it today.
His preeminent story is The Country of the Blind, one of the most chillingly horrific stories - - in a subtle and growing manner - - ever written, which should wake up at least a few people today, who may yet recognize their existing reality!
Fortunately, his most prophetic story, The Story of the Last Trump, isn't in this collection, and it is just as well . . .
