I admit I read & re-read the throwback pulp book when I teenager.
It was good, but it wasn't Hugo award great.
However, I didn't realize author's huge "religious" baggage until later.
In retrospect, the cover sucked on a laid back barbarian savant person shooting at what?
It was Tolkien sized & even be used as foreign object by professional wrestler, but it was fast paced. Author should have broken "chosen one" novel into several parts for maximum profit.
Sales tainted by "built in audience".
I'm lucky enough on never seen the film version.

Amazingly awesome sci fi. I can't imagine why anyone would give it less than five stars!!
