The second and third books in the Foundation trilogy were much better than the first. I found the Mule to be a particularly interesting character and especially enjoyed the first portion of the book.
This is a relatively quick easy read and Asimov keeps enough questions active that you want to keep reading to find out the answers. Whereas I saw the "big twist" coming in Foundation and Empire, I was torn between a few possibilities in this book. Which makes sense since so many levels of misdirection and decoys were used.

Indeed it is dated; in spite of the 2004 date indicated in the description this book was actually written in the 1950s.

Dated but enjoyable.

Once again, a very good read. What/where is the second foundation and can it save the world form the Mule? Or will the two foundations colide? Or is the world already on a different track? Read on for the answers or even more questions. Asimov keeps you hooked with twists to delight all.
