This is one brave recording, brave as in a rock star from another era, doing relevant music today, which wasn't always the case with Bowie as he has put out some God awful stuff the past decade or two.
Upon initial listen my daughter said 'what is this shit',my response was 'his better days are behind him'...but after giving this disc a few spins and my wife (a Ziggy Stadust girl) listening in,we of that open mind generation, have the patience to let the music do it's thing. I hear Beck and Radiohead influences (or is it the other way around?),this release reminds me of his work on Lodger or Scary Monsters, and it's as brave and relevant today as it was upon those releases...David you put out a great piece of work to say goodbye.

2016 is drawing to a close, and Blackstar remains the top candidate for my album of the year.

Must say--surprised and amazed by the disc...Not your fav. glam, pop star stuff... avant garde and deserves a serious listen. I liked it more than disliked it, if that makes sense. Check it out...

Great album to end a multi-decade career. The album draws influence multiple from multiple genres, which really makes the album sound interesting and stand out. Highly Recomended.

Downloaded the album from freegal and the Lazarus video from youtube a few months ago. Have listened to the tunes many times. Checked out this CD after reading about the design of its black booklet and surprised that it was indeed black with glossy black letters for lyrics and others. As commented by a reviewer: Black on black. Very smooth, very clever, a bit like the music… and the man…

Surprised and delighted me. Bowie was truly one of the greats, right to the end.

A fitting end to a legend. No one else could be so relevant over so many decades. We miss you Starman.

Bowie's Swan Song
His 25th and final studio album that reached no.1 on both sides of the Atlantic.
With characters of Progressive Rock and Jazz plus great instrumentation and arrangements it is truly outstanding and unique.

Such a great album, so adventurous and bold. Looking at the record now, in light of his passing only solidifies his artistry, working on an album like this, facing that situation. A true giant, and this album only proves it time and again. Highly recommended.

Something happened on the day he died -
Spirit rose a metre and stepped aside -
Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried: -
(I'm a blackstar, I'm a starstar, I'm a blackstar)
