This excellent swing era musical DVD is mistitled "Count Basie." Basie and his orchestra account for only the first performances by a half-dozen bands captured on film and TV. Others include Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Gene Krupa and their bands. Early Fifties' Joe Turner and his band seem to be a bridge between swing and rock, especially when performing a terrific full-band version of "Shake, Rattle 'n' Roll."

Note: This all-music DVD has no narration or host or other documentary features.
